We’d even go so far as to say that the Rubi CM is the La Mancha guitar. No other model has shaped our portfolio quite like it. Here’s a little story…

In the world of classical guitars, it often feels like the story of the instrument has already been fully told. There’s relatively little sustainable innovation, and traditional construction methods are still widely relied upon. But that’s exactly what makes the classical guitar so fascinating. In the end, it’s all about the essentials—what a guitarist can draw out of the instrument, rather than what the instrument offers on its own.

At La Mancha Guitars, we’ve been driven for many years to offer instruments that meet a high-quality standard rooted in tradition. Our Rubi CM embodies this like no other classical guitar in its segment—and has been setting the tone for years. It’s a guitar that represents Spanish construction, with a Spanish heel and fan bracing under the top. Not to mention the classic tonewood combination: cedar and mahogany

From the beginning, our goal was to develop a guitar that follows the classical and Spanish guitar-making tradition while remaining affordable for amateurs, students, and young learners. That’s what makes the Rubi CM a true institution—surrounded by nearly a dozen variations. These range from student sizes (53 cm to 59 cm), to our 63 cm Comfort Size, and of course the standard 4/4. But we also occasionally step outside tradition, offering Rubi CM crossover models—with cutaway and pickup, or in a small neck version, for example.

What has especially left us speechless in recent years is the EGTA (European Guitar Teachers Association) evaluation of our models. Among 12 other La Mancha guitars, the Rubi CM/59 was rated as an outstanding instrument for students.

This confirms what we’ve long believed: that the Rubi CM, in all its variations, has become a benchmark for student guitars—and we’re proud of that. We’re thrilled that this instrument has become such a fundamental part of our product portfolio that it’s now impossible to imagine it without it.
