Sometimes, it’s the small things that have the biggest impact.

At the end of May, we at Best Acoustics Reinhardt had the opportunity to support a very special project: the geriatric department of St. Josef Hospital in Essen. Every two months, the team there organizes live music sessions for their patients—an initiative that shows just how powerful music can be, especially in a healthcare setting.

Music in Geriatric Care – More Than Entertainment

These “days of music” bring people together. Patients from multiple wards gather to listen to live performances and experience something that is often missing in everyday hospital life: lightness, emotion, and a sense of community.

The project is led by Stefan Wellen and his team, who put a lot of care and dedication into making these moments possible. What’s particularly remarkable is that the positive effects often last well beyond the actual event—patients continue to talk about it for days, sharing the experience with caregivers and family members.

Our Contribution: A Baton Rouge X35S/FCE

To support this initiative in the long term, we donated an acoustic guitar—a Baton Rouge X35S/FCE.

It quickly became clear why having an instrument on site is so important: it allows musicians to perform spontaneously without needing to bring their own equipment. At the same time, the guitar becomes a permanent part of the project—a tool that helps create new musical moments again and again.

Visiting the Project in Person

On May 28, we visited St. Josef Hospital to personally hand over the guitar and experience the initiative for ourselves.

Even before the performance started, you could feel that something special was about to happen. Patients gathered in the room, while others stayed outside the door, eager to listen as well.

During the performance, a unique atmosphere developed—quiet, attentive, and at the same time full of emotion. Around 15 patients were in the room, with additional listeners just outside, all connected through the music.

For us, it was a powerful moment. One that shows that music doesn’t just entertain—it connects people, brings back memories, and improves quality of life.

Why Projects Like This Matter to Us

As a company, it’s easy to focus on products, features, and markets.

But in the end, it’s about something else: It’s about people.
And about what music can do for them.

Projects like this remind us why we do what we do.

Looking Ahead

The donated guitar will now be used regularly during these music sessions. At the same time, the project remains open to musicians who would like to get involved and support future performances.

We’re proud to be part of this initiative—and we’re looking forward to many more musical moments to come.
